Morris County is sharpening its focus on services for local veterans, including those in Rockaway, after more than 60 veterans, service providers and community organizations gathered to strengthen the county’s support network.
The New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders meeting was held June 16, 2026, at the Morris County Veterans Services Office in Morris Township. Morris County Commissioner Deputy Director John Krickus, a Marine Corps veteran, welcomed attendees and stressed the importance of keeping veterans connected to resources all year.
“These meetings strengthen our network of services and ensure we remain focused on veterans’ evolving needs year-round, not just on holidays,” Krickus said.
The session brought together the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the VA New Jersey Health Care System, the County College of Morris Veterans Resource Center, and several local VFW posts and veteran groups.
Rockaway veterans and their families can turn to the Morris County Office of Veterans Services for help filing VA disability and pension claims, accessing health care and education benefits, and connecting with community programs.
Organizers also announced that the “Remembering Our Fallen Moving Wall” exhibit will come to County College of Morris in Randolph from September 24 to 27, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the start of the Global War on Terror. The traveling tribute honors service members who died in that conflict and offers support to those still carrying its physical and emotional toll.
