Rockaway residents have until Monday, September 7, 2026, to identify gaps and barriers in North Jersey’s trail network through an online survey from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.
The survey asks people who walk, bike, or roll in Morris, Passaic, and Union counties to share where connections between trails and nearby destinations could be safer, easier, and more comfortable. According to the Morris County announcement, responses will help shape recommendations for two current trail extension studies.
The Pompton Valley Rail Trail study is examining links between the trail’s northern end in Pequannock Township and the Highlands Rail Trail in Wanaque Borough. It will also consider a connection to the Mountain View train station in Wayne.
A second study is reviewing possible connections among the Traction Line Recreation Trail, Patriot’s Path, and the Rahway Valley Rail Trail. The current survey page says the Traction Line runs between Morristown and Madison.
Rockaway residents who use local trails, or who want to walk or bike more but encounter missing links or difficult crossings, can submit feedback through September 7. The survey remains active online.
