Rockaway-area residents and history buffs have a reason to tune in to NJ PBS tomorrow night. The eighth season premiere of “Drive By History” airs Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and features Jockey Hollow, the site of the Continental Army’s brutal winter encampment in Morristown during the Revolutionary War.

The episode, titled “The Worst Winter of the Revolution: 1779-80,” explores the extraordinary hardships faced by General George Washington and his troops during one of the harshest winters in American history. Bitter cold, snowstorms, food shortages, and disease all tested the Army’s resolve at Jockey Hollow nearly 250 years ago.

“Drive By History” is hosted by Ken Magos, a storyteller and Mendham Township resident. The acclaimed series investigates the stories behind historical roadside markers and sites across New Jersey and New York, connecting local history to the broader American story.

The episode arrives as Morris County and the nation observe America’s 250th anniversary, a milestone the county is marking through events, education, and tourism tied to the region’s Revolutionary War legacy.

“Jockey Hollow is one of the most important Revolutionary War sites in America,” said Magos. “As a Morris County resident, it was important to highlight both the hardship endured here and the lasting significance of what happened in Morristown during the Revolution.”

The season premiere will also stream on PBS platforms beyond the NJ PBS broadcast. For more information, visit Drive By History or explore Morris County’s 250th anniversary programming.
