Add as a preferred sourceMorris County has opened a 65,540-square-foot expansion of its Public Safety Complex on West Hanover Avenue in Parsippany-Troy Hills, bringing the county Division of Public Health next to its emergency operations functions.
The new space includes storage for personal protective equipment and garage bays for emergency response vehicles and equipment. Moving Public Health into the expansion also frees its former West Hanover Avenue space for the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division.
County officials said the project grew from emergency-response planning completed after the COVID-19 pandemic. A Strategic Planning Advisory Committee met 64 times to review how the county prepares for emergencies and identified closer coordination between Public Health and emergency operations as a priority.
The facility was designed by The Musial Group Architects. Dobco Group served as general contractor, and Legacy Construction Management Inc. served as construction manager.
The expansion was dedicated Wednesday, September 9. For Rockaway residents, the project changes how county public-health and emergency-response teams are positioned to coordinate during major incidents.
