New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission services are coming directly to Rockaway Township this month. A NJ MVC Mobile Unit will set up at the Rockaway Township Municipal Building, 65 Mt. Hope Road, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, organized through the office of Assemblywoman Aura K. Dunn of New Jersey’s 25th Legislative District, gives Morris County residents a chance to handle several routine MVC transactions without a trip to a full agency. Pre-registration is required through the state’s online portal at telegov.njportal.com/njmvcmobileunit.

The mobile unit can process driver license renewals within six months of expiration, including upgrades to a REAL ID driver license. Staff can also handle registration renewals, veteran, handicap and Purple Heart recipient placards, permits and non-driver identification cards. Residents may drop off license plates, and those drop-offs do not count against the number of customers served during the event.

Six points of identification and a Social Security card are required. Residents without a Social Security card or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number may submit an affidavit found on the MVC website, or present a W-2 from the past tax year, a current pay stub with a visible number, or a 1099 form.

Some services are not available on site. Commercial driver licenses, exams, titles and out-of-state transfers cannot be processed at the mobile unit.

Residents with questions can contact Dave Dyer at 973-983-2841. Rockaway Township is in Morris County, New Jersey.
