Rockaway residents looking to celebrate the Fourth of July do not have to go far this year. Two nearby Morris County towns, Dover and Denville, are hosting fireworks displays during the holiday week, and both are a short drive from Rockaway.
Dover kicks off the celebrations on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton Field, 302 East McFarlan Street. The event marks the country’s 250th anniversary with a fireworks display and live music from The Party Force Band. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and $1 for seniors.
Denville follows on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Gardner Field, 2 Savage Road. Denville Township’s Independence Day celebration features a live performance by The Street Hassle Band, followed by a fireworks display. Organizers ask attendees to bring camping chairs and their own food and drinks, and to leave pets at home.
Both fields are within easy reach of Rockaway Borough and Rockaway Township, making either celebration a simple plan for local families. With 2026 marking the nation’s semiquincentennial, the displays are expected to draw strong crowds, so arriving early for parking and seating is a good idea.
