Add as a preferred sourceRockaway Borough and Rockaway Township residents can tour two local historic sites for free on Sunday, October 4, 2026, as part of the Pathways of History Fall Tour across Morris County.
The Red Tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes the Borough of Rockaway Historical Museum at 199 West Main Street and the Ford-Faesch House at 629 Mount Hope Road in Rockaway Township. The weekend event offers free, self-guided visits to more than 29 museums and historic sites. A Blue Tour takes place Saturday, October 3, at other Morris County locations.
The Borough museum sits next to Donatoni Park and is normally open to the public on the fourth Sunday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. Pathways expands that access for the full afternoon window on October 4. The Ford-Faesch Ironmaster’s House, built in 1772, is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Parking for Pathways visitors at the Ford-Faesch House is available at the Tilcon Office parking lot.
Organizers say the tour runs rain or shine. Food and drink are not permitted inside historic structures, and public restrooms may not be available unless a site posts otherwise. Visitors can set their own route and pace.
A complete venue list and route maps are available through Pathways of History. Museum details are posted by the Rockaway Borough Historical Committee, and the Historical Society of Rockaway Township maintains information on the Ford-Faesch House.
