Rockaway Borough is carrying out emergency repairs to one of its municipal wells and is asking residents to conserve water until the work is finished.
In an announcement posted July 29, 2026, the Borough said it is conducting emergency repairs to a municipal well and asked households to help maintain water pressure and supply by limiting their use. Officials specifically asked residents to hold off on lawn watering, car washing, and running laundry or dishwashers where possible while the repairs continue.
The Borough said it will notify residents once the repairs are complete and thanked the community for its patience and cooperation.
The Rockaway Borough Water Utility, part of the Department of Public Works, operates four wells that together supply more than 40 million gallons of water each year. Temporarily easing demand during the repairs helps the water system hold steady pressure for everyday household needs.
