The Township notes that if the 10th day of the grace period falls on a holiday or weekend, it extends to the next business day. Postmarks are not accepted, and interest is charged as of the date a payment is received, so payments should arrive by the deadline rather than just be mailed by it.

How to pay

Online: Taxes can be paid through the Township’s online tax payment portal, linked from the Tax Collector page. According to the Township’s FAQ, electronic check (ACH) payments are free, while credit and debit card payments carry a 3% fee.

In person: The Tax Collector’s Office at the Municipal Building, 65 Mount Hope Road, accepts cash or check Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Drop box: A secure drop box is located outside the front doors of the Municipal Building. Owners who want a receipt should include a self addressed stamped envelope with their payment.

Bank bill pay: The Township cautions that online banking bill pay services typically mail a paper check, so residents using them should allow enough time for the check to arrive before the grace period ends.

Did not get a bill?

Under New Jersey law (N.J.S.A. 54:4-64), failing to receive a tax bill does not relieve an owner of the obligation to pay taxes on time. The Township also notes that a 6% year end penalty can apply to delinquencies over $10,000 under N.J.S.A. 54:4-67.

Residents can sign up for email or text reminders through the Township’s online notification subscriptions under the finance category.
