Add as a preferred sourceRockaway Township preschooler Aaron Ashok spent one hour on Oct. 1, 2026 doing what he loves most: riding his bike. By the time the clock stopped, the 3-year-old had pedaled 168 continuous laps around a circular course at the Peterson Field parking lot, with no training wheels.
Aaron was 3 years, 11 months and 26 days old on the day of the ride. His family says the effort has been recognized by the India Book of Records and the International Book of Records, and certificate and medal processing are underway.
168 Laps on a 12-Inch Bike
Aaron rode a 12-inch PJ Masks themed bicycle. The course was a circle with a 5.5-meter radius, and he rode around the 6-meter mark, so each lap came close to 40 meters. The family puts his total distance at about 6.4 kilometers, or roughly 4 miles.
Family members timed the hour, counted the laps and recorded the full ride on video. His father, Amarnath A, said it was a pleasant day and that Aaron stayed focused and enthusiastic the whole way through.
From Balance Bike to Two Wheels
Aaron’s cycling started early. He began on a balance bike at about 1.5 years old. At 3 years and 7 months he learned to ride two wheels without training wheels, mastering it in a single day. Two months later he started taking longer rides, and at 3 years and 11 months he reached two milestones: a continuous ride of nearly 5 kilometers and the one-hour challenge.
He no longer uses a balance bike, and he can also ride a 16-inch Spider-Man bike. His family says he loves the freedom and excitement of exploring on two wheels. He recently took up roller skating and enjoys setting new personal challenges.
A Family Effort
The family credits much of Aaron’s confidence to his grandparents, who spent 118 days with them. During that stay, Aaron and his younger brother, Arvin, had constant encouragement, plenty of outdoor activities and quality family time that helped them grow more confident and independent.
Aaron is a preschooler who loves the outdoors, cycling, hiking and time with family and friends. This year alone he ran a kids’ marathon and went on three hikes and a camping trip. Next up, his family says, are more cycling, roller skating, hiking and new age-appropriate challenges.
“Our goal has never been just to pursue records,” said Amarnath. “We want Aaron and Arvin to grow up enjoying an active lifestyle, believing in themselves, and understanding that consistent effort can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. If their story inspires even a few families to spend more time outdoors together, that would mean a lot to us.”
