The Historical Society of Rockaway Township will present a talk on the Revolutionary War soldiers of the Rockaway area and Morris County on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Rockaway Township Senior Center on Mount Hope Road in Rockaway Township.

The program spotlights the men from the Rockaway area and the wider Morris County region who served during the Revolutionary War, tracing the local roots of the fight for American independence. It arrives as towns across New Jersey mark the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026, giving Rockaway residents a chance to connect that milestone to the people who lived and fought close to home.

Morris County played an outsized role in the Revolution, from the winter encampments at Jockey Hollow in Morristown to the ironworks that helped supply the Continental Army, and the Rockaway area sits in the heart of that history. The Historical Society of Rockaway Township works year round to preserve and share that story through public programs, events, and tours, and is restoring the 1772 Ford-Faesch House as a future living history museum.

The public is invited to attend. Residents interested in local history, genealogy, or the region’s founding-era past are encouraged to stop by the Rockaway Township Senior Center, a short drive from downtown Rockaway and neighboring Morris County towns.

For more information about the society and its programs, residents can visit the Historical Society of Rockaway Township online at hsrockawaytwpnj.org.
