Add as a preferred sourceRockaway Township is inviting residents to lace up their sneakers for Let’s Walk Rockaway, the Mayor’s Community Walking Challenge, a six-week fitness program that runs from September 19 through October 30, 2026.
The challenge is open to Rockaway Township residents only. Participants can sign up as a team of four and choose a team name, or register on their own and be placed on a team. Each walker is responsible for completing their own registration and submitting weekly step totals and bonus activity information throughout the program.
Registration closes on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Residents can sign up through the registration link on the Township’s News Flash page or by contacting program coordinator Brittany Bernstein at (973) 983-2848 or bbernstein@rockawaytownship.org.
The program encourages Rockaway neighbors to stay active together as the weather cools across Morris County, turning everyday steps into a friendly community competition. Walking is one of the simplest ways to build daily movement, and organizing it by teams gives participants built-in accountability and encouragement.
Rockaway Township residents who want to join should register before the September 13 deadline so they are ready when the challenge begins on September 19.
