Registration is open now for the 2026 fall season of the Rockaway Borough Junior Knights, the volunteer youth football and cheer program that serves families in Rockaway Borough, Wharton, Mine Hill, and Dover.
The program offers flag football for children in kindergarten through second grade and tackle football for grades three through eight. Cheerleading is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade, and there is also a girls competitive flag football team. The season runs from August through November.
The Junior Knights compete in the Morris County Youth Football League. Every coach in the program is Rutgers certified, background checked, and trained in CPR and AED use, according to the organization.
Families facing financial hardship can ask about the program’s confidential scholarship, which the board says helps make sure no child is left out because of cost. Questions can be sent to the Junior Knights board at [email protected].
Rockaway Borough residents can sign up through the Rockaway Borough Parks and Recreation department, which lists the Junior Knights under its fall sports, or directly on the Junior Knights website. Families are encouraged to register early, since the season starts in August.
