Rockaway Township’s Ford-Faesch Manor House is one of the historic sites featured in a new free app that lets residents explore Morris County’s Revolutionary War history at their own pace.

Morris County launched the interactive STQRY app as part of its celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary. The free app offers self-guided walking and driving tours, each with an interactive map, photographs and optional audio narration at every stop.

Built by Jacob Ford Jr. in 1768, the Ford-Faesch Manor House in Rockaway Township later became the home of ironmaster John Jacob Faesch, who directed iron mining operations at Mount Hope that supplied the Continental Army with ammunition and ordnance. The county featured the manor house among the images it shared when announcing the app.

The app currently includes five regional driving tours covering the northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest sections of the county, along with two walking tours of Morristown. The routes draw on research from the Morris County Office of Planning and Preservation’s American Revolution StoryMap.

“Morris County played a pivotal role in the American Revolution, and as we continue celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary, we want to make it as easy as possible for residents and visitors to experience that history firsthand,” said Morris County Commissioner Director Stephen Shaw.

The project was funded in part through a grant from the New Jersey Highlands Council. The STQRY app is available free on Google Play and through a web version, and more information is available on the county’s 250th Anniversary website.
