Rockaway Township residents can get free, in-person help applying for New Jersey’s property tax relief programs next month. Assemblywoman Aura Dunn will host a Property Tax Relief Assistance Event at Rockaway Township Town Hall on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The event is one of two Dunn is holding for the 25th Legislative District, which covers Rockaway and much of Morris County. Treasury agents from the New Jersey Division of Taxation will be on site to answer questions and walk residents through their applications for Senior Freeze, Stay NJ, and ANCHOR, the state’s three main property tax relief programs.
The programs can put real money back in residents’ pockets. ANCHOR provides rebates to eligible homeowners and renters, Senior Freeze reimburses qualifying older residents for property tax increases, and Stay NJ is the newer benefit aimed at lowering property tax bills for seniors. Figuring out which programs you qualify for and how to file can be confusing, and having state agents in the room is meant to take the guesswork out of it.
Rockaway Township Town Hall is located at 65 Mount Hope Road. Residents who plan to attend are asked to register in advance by emailing [email protected] or calling (973) 206-1876.
Dunn is also hosting a second session the same afternoon in Randolph, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Randolph Township Hall, for residents who cannot make the Rockaway morning event.
For Rockaway homeowners and seniors trying to keep up with some of the highest property taxes in the country, the morning at Town Hall is a chance to get answers straight from the source.
